Brad Mehldau Highway Rider (European première)
Jazz pianist Brad Mehldau has been hailed as one of the most exciting musicians in his field today. Although best known as a jazz composer, improviser and pianist he has written several long-form compositions and songs including an orchestral piece called The Brady bunch Variations for the Orchestre National d'Île-de-France and two Carnegie Hall commissions for Anne Sofie von Otter and Renée Fleming. In these concerts Brad is joined by musicians from his trio - Larry Grenadier and Jeff Ballard - plus Joshua Redman, Matt Chamberlain and Britten Sinfonia for a live performance of his recently released Highway Rider album.
"Universally admired as one of the most adventurous pianists to arrice on the jazz scene in years." The Los Angeles Times
The performance at the Barbican is part of the London Jazz Festival
