The young firebrand New Yorker, Nico Muhly has devised this programme for Britten Sinfonia’s At Lunch series. Nico Muhly’s influences are wide ranging but he cites early English choral music as one of his particular interests. In this concert we hear his new arrangements of three songs by the Jacobean composer, Orlando Gibbons plus a new work by Muhly himself. Herbert Howells’ Rhapsodic Quintet for clarinet and strings and Copland’s brilliant yet technically demanding Sextet complete the programme.

In Conversation – Nico Muhly talks about his new work co-commissioned by Britten Sinfonia and Wigmore Hall
London – 12.15pm

Cambridge concert recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Please note that tickets for the London concert will not be on sale until Autumn 2009.
