Britten Sinfonia

About Creative Learning

Britten Sinfonia’s Creative Learning programme aims to inspire audiences, both in the concert hall and in the community, with the joy and stimulation of live music. We want to enable our audiences, both new and existing, to learn more about the music we play and to get involved in making their own music.

Audiences attending a Britten Sinfonia concert can access pre-concert talks, podcasts and online programme notes to find out more about the repertoire and the artists involved. We provide specially tailored programme notes for schools, and also arrange in-depth projects with children and young people in schools and the community to explore the repertoire we are performing. Our popular Family Music Days include a wide range of fun musical activities and are the perfect introduction to Britten Sinfonia for younger audiences. We also work with more experienced musicians at universities and through youth and amateur orchestras. Finally, Sinfonia at Work is Britten Sinfonia’s new training programme for businesses, using musical analogies and activities to bring new insights into teamwork, leadership, communication and creativity in business.

All of these activities are led by Britten Sinfonia’s musicians and associated composers and workshop leaders. For audiences of all ages and levels of experience, the Creative Learning programme offers unique opportunities to meet, talk to and work with world-class performers and composers; discover more about our wide-ranging repertoire; and develop new musical knowledge and skills.
